The famous Chobe National Park located in the North-East of Botswana near the Kasane Airport covers 10700 sq.km of diverse vegetation and geographical features. The Chobe River-front has a variety of wildlife lodges & hotels which is where most tourist holiday accommodation is. The two other main areas of Chobe National Park include Savuti and Linyanti areas. Chobe Park is well known for it’s massive elephant and buffalo herds, with the Chobe River front being lush in summer and in winter it attracts the wildlife to the river banks. Chobe Park is easily accessed from Livingstone in Zambia and Vic Falls in Zimbabwe, both less than an hour away. African Bundu Safaris can book an exciting Chobe safari holiday together with Vic Falls and Okavango Delta.

The Okavango Delta is a unique eco-system situated in the middle of the largest stretch of continuous sand in the world – the Kalahari basin. The lush vegetation is very fragile & the wildlife is the best to be seen in Africa. The Okavango Delta consists of private concession areas and it is not possible for self-drive tourists to enter these areas. The only way to visit the Okavango lodges is to fly and in some cases, by boat. Flights to the various safari lodges on islands in the Okavango are scenic and part of the Botswana safari experience. Safari holiday accommodation to any lodge or camp in the Okavango is not cheap due to high concession fees plus very high logistical & operating costs for each lodge. African Bundu Safaris books Okavango Delta safari wildlife lodge holidays.

The Makgadikgadi & Nxai Pans are over 12500 sq. kms and offer a totally different safari experience to the rest of Botswana. From your Makgadikgadi lodge or Nxai camp or Botswana safari vehicle, look in any direction and you see space! Massive herds of thousands of zebra together with large populations of springbok antelope plus gemsbok, steenbok, occasional giraffe and elephant, plus the lion & cheetah predators can be encountered on the Makgadikgadi Pans, though their movements and locations are governed by the grasslands and rains. African Bundu Safaris books our clients into luxury lodges and safari camps in the Makgadikgadi Pans and Nxai Pan areas. The most exciting & quickest way to travel to the safari lodges is by light aircraft from Maun or an Okavango or Kalahari safari lodge.

The Savute area is almost desert-like with a scorching sun, loose & hot sand with animals lining up to drink at the water-hole. The Savute Channel has an erratic flow of water so many dead trees are a feature of the landscape. To the west of Savuti, still in the Chobe National Park, is the Linyanti area with great game-viewing in the Selinda Spillway and along the Linyanti / Kwando river area. Flying is the only way to visit the lodges in these private concession areas in the Savuti & Linyanti and a few nights at 1 or 2 safari lodges is well rewarded. African Bundu Safaris recommends a few nights in both Savuti and Linyanti together with Okavango, Chobe and Kalahari to get the best Botswana Safari holiday experience.
The Moremi Game Reserve is part of the Okavango Delta and offers the safari wildlife lodge guests permanent swamp, seasonally swamped area and dry land. Some of Botswana's luxury safari lodges in Moremi can offer all three areas for 4x4 game drives and boat cruises to experience the best wildlife safari in Botswana. Some of the Moremi Reserve lodges can be driven to whilst others need to be flown to or you enjoy a motor boat ride through the reeded channels of the permanent waters of the Okavango Delta. Chief’s Island is in Moremi Game Reserve and is probably Botswana’s best wildlife area with a supporting predator population! No night drives allowed inside the Moremi Reserve. African Bundu Safaris offers a wonderful safari vacation in Moremi Game Reserve.

Tuli & Mashatu Game Reserves are located in the eastern corner of Botswana adjoining the Limpopo & Sashi Rivers with Zimbabwe & South Africa as neighbours. African Bundu Safaris offers safari and wildlife photographers, 3 lodges to stay at in the Mashatu and Tuli Game Reserves for their wildlife vacation to Botswana. Visitors to Tuli Reserve can drive from Johannesburg and leave their cars at the Pont Drift border post, or African Bundu Safaris can fly you to the Mashatu Game Reserve for a great wildlife safari lodge holiday. Mashatu Game Reserve is a wholly preserved and untainted wilderness in eastern Botswana, at the confluence of the Limpopo and Shashe Rivers. The ample plains range from savannah, to riverine forests, marshland, and sandstone outcrops. As one of the largest private game reserve in southern Africa, Mashatu is, at 25 000 ha (75 000 acres), a fitting setting for the world’s largest land mammal (the elephant) - with the largest herds on privately owned land on earth.
The Northern Tuli Game Reserve is a true haven for wildlife, which together with the stunning scenery, fascinating history and relaxing lodge grounds makes Tuli unique. There are 48 large mammal species present in the reserve, totaling approximately twenty thousand animals, which include elephant, fifteen large herbivore species and four cat species to mention but a few.

The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is best visited in the summer months when the rain falls, as the Kalahari landscape turns green with lush grass and becomes one of the
prime game-viewing areas in Botswana with beautiful skies and an abundance of birds, plus thousands of springbok & gemsbok along with predators and their cubs. There are only 2 private camps inside the park and then a couple outside of the Central Kalahari Reserve. The western town of Ghanzi is also located in the Kalahari region and is ideal for 1, 2, or 3 night stop-overs en-route to Namibia or the northern parts of Botswana from South Africa. African Bundu Safaris recommends some great safari camps and lodges for Kalahari wildlife & San Bushmen experience, though non are ultra-luxury safari lodges. Have a look at our selection of safari camps and lodges, possibly rated between 1 and 4 star - however, you go there to experience the wide open spaces, the awesome wildlife and starry night-skies. The cooler winter months from May to August, can get to freezing during the darks hours of the morning, so come prepared with warm clothing for early morning game drives and after sunset.
